From the Pastors desk
From The Pastors Desk is a page used to communicate to the congregation what is currently on the Pastor's heart, what he is hearing from God and general news regarding the development of the Church
Our church has gone through many seasons and storms.
After moving back from the Trust grounds to our permanent location and after a year of rest, we are now mobilising to meet the current challenges.
I have interviewed most of the members and all have been positive with respect to the establishment of departments. The Holy Spirit has laid it on my heart to move away from a church that is run by the pastoral staff and a leaders to a church in which all members are functional. This is a challenge for me as I am sure it will be for all of you.
The fact is, a church is not an organisation or a club run by a few. A church encompasses all the gifts endowed upon the members by the Holy Spirit. It would be presumptuous to think that I or the leaders could meet all the needs of church let alone the body of Christ. We all have a role to play in the body and it is important that we the leaders allow room for the body members to exercise their gifts, however small they may seem. The bible talks of honourable and less honourable members (See 1 Cor. 12-27) but we all work together for the good of our Lord and Saviour.
Over the last two years, many of my sermons focused on the family values and sonship and I believe the Holy Spirit has prepared us for the season that lies ahead.
The time of being a complacent Christian has passed. We are in the end-times and it is going to take commitment from all of us to meet the challenges of the future.
Many of you have shared visions of where we need to go and all of these visions are complimentary. I am encouraged by the developments with the Intercession, Building and Technology departments and I encourage those of you who have not yet become active to take their example. God is looking for a vehicle to do His work; a car that is moving is easier to steer than one that is parked.
There are many functions that still require volunteers and leadership.
The launch of this website has been a desire of mine for a long time. We have had the name registered for more than a year but I believe with current developments, the timing of the launch is perfect.
Not only are the revelations received from the Holy Spirit relevant for our community but also for the body of Christ as a whole. I believe the website will be a medium to carry our vision and revelation past the boundaries of our town.
Prayer School
Harold has affiliated our church with Shekinah Prayer School based in Heidelberg and is commencing a course starting 7 June 2005. Prayer is a vital part of our Christian life and I encourage all of you to register with this course.
Building
Fonnie is in charge of the building committee and we have already interviewed two contractors with a view to closing under roof the courtyard. We plan to do this project cash so sometime in the future the building committee will be pressing your buttons.
Technology
The most apparent development is the launch of this web-site. Thanks to Bernie we finally have a Web presence. Although Bernie is creative, he needs your input to publish relevant content to the web. Please assist him where necessary.
The website is merely an extension of communication with you the members and I am trusting that this will, for those who can use it, become a supportive source of information and communication. Bernie told me that he plans a discussion forum on the Web where you the members can post subjects for discussion and share opinions and views; bearing in mind this will be available to a world-wide audience.
As part of the web site, there will be specific pages relating to Youth and the Bikers. I see these as developing into websites with their own identity. Ludwyk is co-odinating the launch of the Youth web-site and again he needs the support of the youth. You guys always want to make a statement, well here is a platform for you to do this.
We really need someone to assist Jonny on the sound desk. He has been doing the sound since I came to Kriel. If any of you want to assist, Jonny or Bernie will train you. Please contact either of them in this regard.
